Armourpanel, new decorative timber product

We know many of you are building or renovating or just have a keen interest in building products which is why we’re excited to share a new decorative timber product that’s been getting attention left and right — Armourpanel by BigRiver.

Made by bonding five layers of Australian hardwood sheets together in a cross-ply manufacturing process, Armourpanel sheets are strong, solid, stable panels that bring simplicity, warmth and texture to living environments. Its toughness makes it ideal for use in hardwearing areas and a superior product at a lower price.

These panels are super versatile and can be used for flooring, wall panelling, screening, cabinetry, joinery and ceiling lining.

The panels are manufactured in Australia and are available in a range of native species including Blackbutt, Flooded Gum, Spotted Gum and Sydney Blue Gum. Australian Forestry Standard (AFS) certified, sizing of sheets is 2400 x 1200mm or optional 1800mm x 1200mm in 15mm, 18mm or 21mm thickness. Sheets are supplied ‘raw’, so water based, solvent based stains and oil and wax finishes can be used.

We love that this product has preserved the beautiful organic grain and characteristics of the natural timbers so no two sheets are identical.

This is also the product used in Aesop’s flagship Collins Street store in Melbourne, which won the 2014 Interior Design Excellence Awards. If it’s good enough for Aesop, it’s good enough for us!
