This week I was nominated by the lovely Bec of Bloggers Bazaar in the Liebster Award — an award from bloggers to bloggers to share things we love and show our support in the blogging community. THANK YOU Bec for the nomination!
The idea is that I will answer the 10 questions she asked me and then I will nominate 10 other bloggers to answer 10 questions I have for them… and then the links of support continue to grow. Here it goes…
If you had 6 months left to live, how would you spend it?
I would fast track ticking off my bucket list with my friends and family. Most of the things on the list are to do with travel or adventure sports.
Sky diving, going to the top of the the Eiffel Tower and sleeping a night in a castle are some of the things I have already ticked off but there are still more than 50 on the list! I would visit the Grand Canyon, go in a submarine, be an audience member of a TV show, swim with dolphins…
What did you grow up wanting to become?
It’s embarrassing but I wanted to be a secretary. I thought that was the best job of all time. In my play room I had an old phone and typewriter and I would pretend I was a secretary for hours (I later became a secretary and realised it wasn’t as glamorous or fun as I had imagined!).
I also wanted to work in an ice-cream shop. As a child we would go on holidays to Noosa. On Hastings Street there was an ice-cream shop with a large window where you could see a lady making waffles on a big wheel, about 8 waffles at a time, and I dreamed that would be me. I ended up working in an ice-cream shop for many years while at uni and it seriously was the best job ever!
What does your ideal day look like?
Enjoying a beautiful day outdoors with my friends and family (including my dog Arnie) either at the beach or a national park — enjoying laughter and sunshine.
If you won the lotto how would you spend it?
I’d pay off our mortgage! I’d also look at what good deeds I could do to help my family and friends.
What is a unique, strange quirk or fact about you?
People who know me say I’m very strange but in a good crazy kind of way. A strange quirk might be that every time I have a mint or strong gum, I have to sneeze.
What is your best memory from your school days?
Swinging on the monkey bars with my friends and going on an excursion to the Binna Burra rainforest.
What’s number one on your bucket list?
Written on my bucket list as number 1 is ‘Go on a spiritual retreat’ but that’s ticked off. Next up I would like to go on a hot air balloon ride (number 31).
What piece of advice have you been given that has been the most profound?
To trust your instincts, to believe in yourself, and to know that being a good person is more important than being successful. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Who is your blogger or biz person crush and why?
Lucy Feagins from The Design Files and I got to meet her at ProBlogger this year (check out the pic below). I love that she has such a strong and clear purpose for her blog and never deviates from that. She shares unique and beautiful stories about people and their businesses, and her photos are amazing.
Why do you blog?
I love sharing design and decorating tips, getting to be a kid when coming up with DIYs, and interviewing incredible artists, makers and experts. The blogging community is so supportive and it’s great to be a part of it. I find the whole experience really rewarding and am so happy to have found my passion.
What to do next:
– link back and recognise the blogger who nominated you
– answer the 10 questions given by the nominator
– nominate 10 other bloggers for the award

Lately I’ve been getting my craft on.
I’m working on a bunch of fun DIYs that you can do at home so I’m surrounded by a mess of paper, paint, sizers, glue and glitter!
The beauty of Spring — new blooms and sunshine — is giving me lots of inspiration and makes me want to spend all my time outdoors.
I would love to hear any suggestions you have for a DIY or any problems that I could help with such as an old table you don’t know what to do with or a bland bookshelf that might need some new life? Tell me in the comments below.
What I’m loving
+ I really love this story (and video) about Adam France, a young creative
+ The new range of Up Up Lights from Emily Green and Dale Hardiman make me happy
+ Kip and Co’s new One Fine Day bed linen range is fun and summery, I always love their work
+ This raw blueberry lemon cheesecake from the merrymaker sisters looks ah-mazing and since making their raspberry choc cake, I can’t wait to try it
+ The adorable designs and free printables at Design is Yay are brightening up my office and helping me stay organised
The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.

You might have seen this quote in my DIY Gold Foil Print story. I have it framed on my desk and I look at it whenever I feel that I’m struggling or unsure of things.
If you would like to join in the link up, follow Bec’s instructions in the pic below and head over to the Bloggers Bazaar. See you there!
