As it won’t be long (fingers crossed) until I start designing the living room of my new home, I wanted to start the design process and thought ‘what better way than with a Monday moodboard?’!
I started by selecting the colour palette. No doubt you would have heard that blue is the key colour forecast for 2015 so this is the strongest colour I chose. When Dana Tomic Hughes of Yellowtrace spoke at the Haymes Colour Forecast 2015 launch party, she also said “pink is huge” and I love the way the muted pink softens the blue and connects it to the two grey tones. A touch of sage green will be used for contrast.
Next, I selected the largest items in the room — sofa, occasional chairs and coffee table. Our entertainment unit and book case will be built-in so these items of furniture have been left out.
I love this Felix sofa from King Furniture (although only just having discovered it, I’m yet to know the price!) because of it’s classic, clean design and great fabric and leather cover options.
Having two occasional chairs side by side is something I have wanted in my living room for years. While I dream of owning two of those unbelievable velvet armchairs from Greg Natale’s range for Stylecraft, I need to be realistic about what’s within our budget and found beautiful occasional chairs in Alisa & Lysnadra’s online store.
The angles of the metal frame under the coffee table and the way these are carried through the hanging light add interest (and a bit of bling) to the living room.
