Construction Update 19: My birthday wish came true and a surprise announcement!

The suspense is finally over and I’m happy to report we made it into our new house in time for my birthday, hooray!

It was a very close call and down to the absolute wire but we got our approval just in time. My birthday was everything I could have hoped for and more, and I feel like one very lucky girl!

There are still a lot of odd bits to do around the house and a heck of a lot of landscaping but it feels amazing to finally be in our new home.

Over the coming months as I complete rooms, I’ll be sharing them on the blog but in the meantime here are a few snippets.

Oh, and my surprise announcement? I’m having a baby! So you can expect to see a lot more nursery inspiration on the blog too as I get ready for that exciting new chapter 🙂

    1. Congratulations on all three accounts Gina! What a high you must be on. I adore your kitchen to bits and can’t wait to catch up on all your photos of your new house.

      • Thanks Johanne! It’s certainly a great feeling to be in our new home and worth the wait. I’m now trying to finish off at least one room so I can do my first ‘reveal’, he he, but there’s so much to do around here!

    2. WOW! congrats, congrats and congrats! What a trifecta. And what a relief it must be finally moved in. I’m super excited to see your rooms revealed, as hints of your place have similar decisions we’ve made yet I’m lacking in the styling finessing department. We move into our new place in 6 weeks!
Congrats again and how lovely to know that your new family edition will be apart of this new home you’ve designed and built. xo

      • Oh thank you Tobi! It’s such a relief to have finally moved in and every day the house is becoming more like home. Yay, congratulations to you too about to move into your new home! Hope you love it as much as I love mine, xx

    3. Weeeee!!! That’s SO exciting sweets! I’m absolutely thrilled for you guys! CONGRATULATIONS! And yay for moving into your gorgeous house! What a year it has been! Yay, yay, yay!! Xoxox

      • Ha ha, yes it’s been a massive year but we couldn’t be happier. You’ll have to show me how your nursery is coming along… I’m sure it’s gorgeous 🙂

    4. Wow, your announcement could not get any better than that! How exciting to be in your house. And a HUGE congrats on your baby news. I am so happy for you.

Your kitchen looks gorgeous! I love it all. All your selections have come together beautifully!! And I love your copper tap too.

Guest bedroom is lovely also. Very inviting.

      • Thanks Anthea, we’re so happy with how it all came together 🙂 I can’t wait to hear more about your home, is your kitchen nearly finished? Fingers crossed you can be in your new home soon too!! x

        • Thanks Gina. We are so close to moving in. Our kitchen is all done … except for our copper tap! It’s been about 7-8 weeks so far and I’ve been told it could be another 3. Eek! If that ends up being the only thing that’s holding us up, we will just put in a temporary tap so we can move in.

Apart from that there are a few other little bits and pieces like fans to go in, and our rangehood which had the wrong motor sent, wardrobe doors to be repainted because they have been painted the wrong color! And I haven’t ordered any window furnishings yet because I’ve been procrastinating over what I want in our living areas. So, it might be sheets on the bedroom windows for a few weeks until I can get that sorted.

I’m really looking forward to seeing your room reveals!

      • Thank you Alyson! It’s such a great feeling to be in our new home and I think I’m going to have a lot of fun planning this nursery 😉

    5. Ahh congratulations on the new home front and HUGE baby news! Enjoy nesting in the gorgeous space you’ve created together. x
