Located in Etobicoke in Toronto, Canada, the Botfield Residence is the epitome of farmhouse elegance and sophistication.
The team at Ancerl Studio transformed this home from a tired bungalow into a 2-storey contemporary family home. Defined by a pair of symmetrical 2-storey peak additions, the exisiting brick home was painted white to quietly transition in with the new home.
The entry is framed by the peaks to reveal a central grand entryway with loft-style windows and accents of natural white oak wood.
Combining raw materials and clever use of space, this is a home with a modern farmhouse feel.
Inside, the home takes a contemporary approach alongside a traditional farmhouse layout. Playing with varying heights and volumes of space, the soaring cathedral ceilings are breathtaking.
Highlighting the use of raw materials, the exposed wood beams and mix of raw concrete tile, and herringbone timber flooring brings a sense of unique cohesion to the home. Paired thoughtfully with a minimal colour palette, it feels warm and inviting.
Oversized pendant lights complement the grand central space above the dining room which opens through to the sleek, farmhouse-style kitchen.
The living space features wall-to-wall windows, flooding the home with light and creating art with the lush, leafy exterior garden.
Beyond the grandeur of the kitchen and dining space is the living room, different in design but no less spectacular. With a wall of black framed windows, built-in cabinetry and a statement fireplace, it’s a light-filled room with a view to entice.
A private study and sunny casual breakfast nook also add to the modern farm-style residence.
Upstairs and the master bedroom enjoys a tree-top outlook as the wall-to-wall windows create the entire back facade of Botfield Residence.
We could not imagine a more beautiful way to wake than in a master bedroom like this one. The cathedral ceilings and exposed timber beams feature yet again with a peaked glass wall.
The luxe vibes continue in the spa-like bathroom with a windowed alcove housing a freestanding tub — yet another room with a view!
How about THAT for a show stopping home tour?! Please tell us you’re lusting after this home as much as we are! Were the wall-to-wall windows your fave feature? Or perhaps it was those exposed beam cathedral ceilings? Tell us in the comment section below.
