1. High contrast colour palettes for drama

It’s often said that fortune favours the bold. And if you’re all for being bold and edgy with your interior design, then you’re going to love the high contrast design forecast for 2025! This trend features extreme colour contrasts. Think dark violets combined with pops of luminous yellows or greens to create a dramatic effect.

Before you think ewww, just take a look at the flatlay below. This materials palette by Sherwin Williams shows how you can effortlessly pull off the trend.

2. Ethereal colours to create celestial-like spaces

Keeping in line with contrasting colours, ethereal colour palettes are also set to trend in 2025. These low-chromatic colours are airy and playful. You could hero one colour or combine it with a deeper hue to anchor the space. Or to really play to the theme, you could combine dusty pinks, light purples and white blues to create an almost celestial atmosphere in your rooms.

3. Warm tones to incite joy

We never thought we’d see the day where we’d be talking about painting a room brown, but here we are! 2025 is the time to create welcoming spaces full of joy and exuberance. How can you get this right? Go ahead and use comforting colours like golden ochre, sun-baked reds and wholesome, earthy browns.

C2 Paint announced this richly coloured brown ‘Raku’ as its 2025 Colour of the Year. “It’s a true chameleon colour shifting between an oxidised sanguine to a dark burgundy with subtle purple and brown undertones, evoking an aura of sophistication and warmth.”

4. Sophisticated reds and terracotta for warmth

There’s been a surge in people decorating their walls with bold reds in 2024, and that’s predicted to stay. We’re not talking about tomato reds but leaning more towards burnt, rich burgundy and red wines. It might seem like a bold choice at first, but just a little bit of it is enough to lift the mood of any room. In line with the deep reds, terracotta and burnt oranges are also making the rounds and are expected to be huge in 2025. When used in large amounts, the red tones act similarly to a neutral and are quite cosy.

Not convinced red can be sophisticated? Just take a look at this room where the walls, ceiling and trim are all painted in a deep ruby red. It’s a fab wall colour choice in heritage homes, and you can find more colour inspiration for Victorian homes here.

5. Irresistible caramel and chocolate tones where natural meets modern

For those who are tempted to achieve atmospheres with a natural yet modern feel, then warm caramels and deep chocolate tones are the perfect way to make any space feel cosy. These neutrals blend beautifully with natural materials like wicker, warm woods, rattan and patterned fabrics.

Four reasons why you should hire a professional painter

Long time readers of the blog would have seen us paint more than a few rooms over the years. But when it comes to painting with colour, we call in a professional! Vibrant and highly saturated paints can reveal every imperfection in your paint finish and that’s why we suggest hiring a professional painter & decorator to make your interior spaces look flawless. Not sure it’s worth the investment? Here are some reasons why, even if you’re a seasoned painter, it’s a good idea to hire a professional painter.

  • They have everything you need: obvious? Yes. But it isn’t until you start to paint a room that you realise all the things you need to do the job correctly. When you decide to hire a professional painter, you can save yourself endless trips running back and forth to the hardware store
  • They’re efficient: with all the experience they have, professional painters will be able to get the job done quickly. Save yourself the hassle of living through a messy renovation with drop sheets and paint supplies taking over your home for weeks
  • Your project will have a professional finish: professional painters pay attention to all the details, big and small, and with their precision, they will ensure a polished finished.

Is 2025 going to be the year where you completely change up the look and feel of your home? Have any of these interior wall colours or new colour trends coming for 2025 inspired you? As we always say, one of the most effective ways to do this is to add a new coat of paint to your walls. Happy decorating!
