HOORAY!!! Spring is here and we’re equally excited about the new wave of homewares and interiors inspiration as we are about the warmer weather!
Speaking of Spring 2015 interiors inspiration, what’s hot?
Colours
We recently spoke to the experts at Paint Place to get the lowdown on the hottest colour trends for 2015-16 and brought you these via Her Canberra here.
To briefly recap, Lucy Sutherland, Trend Forecaster and General Manager of the International School of Colour and Design, launched four collections for this year — Interstellar, Softly Softly, Petrol and Persimmon, and Draper-esque.
Softly Softly (pictured below) is our favourite from this latest colour forecast and Lucy says “It’s a celebration of texture — evolved in response to some of the highly coloured, graphic trends that we’ve had over the past couple of years.”
Use dusty pinks and smoky greys to achieve this look such as Aura, Dusty Beige and Boulder Grey from Haymes.
Homewares
Accents of turquoise and yellow are coming through strongly in many Spring/Summer ’15 collections — just check out how Jen from Interiors Addict styled her living room with some of the latest pieces from Freedom.
And for those of you who shy away from colour, the continuation of greys mixed with earthy tones may be just for you!
Grey for Spring we hear you ask? Yes! Lighter shades of grey bring a crispness and freshness that’s perfect for Spring and pairs beautifully with natural materials such as jute, metallics, marble and concrete which are still as strong as ever this Spring!
Styling
So you’ve got decided on your new colour palette and have picked up some latest homewares to give your home a lift — how do you bring the look together?
You don’t need to make drastic changes to your interiors to give it a fresh Spring feel. Simply replacing your lounge cushions, such as adding a bright floral cushion and one or two others in different prints or block colours, changing from your winter knit throw to a lighter weight throw, and adding a few other pops of colour in a room will create a dramatically different feel.
Stylist Emma Blomfield suggests mixing patterns and prints “Large print flowers are a great choice for a look that will blend with your existing space.”
Don’t forget Spring is all about nature so consider introducing some more indoor plants, adding a vase of fresh blooms to your coffee table, or sourcing decor that has an earthy or natural element to it.
Happy styling!
Spring is all about nature and colors & we should remember that while renovating our homes accordingly. The stylist has used colors extensively in this case. Appreciate the efforts.
