A before and after home renovation is probably one of our favourite things to showcase on the blog. There’s just something so special about seeing a home completely transform. And trust us… this one is ah-MAZING.
Starting with an original pre-1943 Queenslander, the team at Zou Build took this home from drab to fab. Let’s check it out!

The original home in this renovation project was well past its best so the Zou team certainly had their work cut out for them.
“The home was completely untouched,” says Christal Fysentzou, one-half of Zou Build and interior and design consultant.
“Originally it was a 4 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with 1 living space. After we were finished with it, it became a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with 2 living spaces, thanks to the completed extension.”

Home to a family of 5, the owners were keen to give their home a modern makeover but still keep the beautiful features it once had.
“Our brief was to create a family home for the owner’s growing family. They wanted to keep the original features of the home but add a nice, modern touch,” explains Christal.
“We had to restore a lot of the original characteristics. Our aim was to restore them to their original form or as close to it as possible.
“Sounds simple enough, but they were really tricky to preserve and do them justice. Although in the end, I think we did a pretty great job!”
In this before and after home renovation, an extension was added to give the owners some much needed additional space.
“The element we’re happiest with on this project is definitely the extension. We love the openness of the kitchen, living and dining room.
“The facade of this home has had a complete transformation, too. Renovations are not easy but the most rewarding part is the end result. This is why we keep getting sucked into doing more of them!” laughs Christal.
With so many impressive renovation projects under their belt, we can’t wait to see what Zou Build gets up to next. Visit their Instagram or check out their website for more before and after home renovation makeovers.
