OMG!! Has it seriously been an entire year since the last series of The Block?! You know how much we love a good home reno show, but we also know there can be a lot of unnecessary drama that goes along with it. So we’re here to cut through the noise (and the tears) to bring you all the pics from every room of The Block 2021.
Throw in a little bit of what the judges thought vs what we thought, and Style Curator will be your one stop shop for everything about The Block 2021… minus the drama!

The 2021 series is nicknamed ‘Fans vs Faves’ with two previous teams returning to battle it out with the usual clan of wannabe renovators.
Teams will renovate 5 houses in Bronte Court, a gorgeous cul-de-sac in the Melbourne suburb of Hampton. In this family-friendly, bayside suburb, houses here average over the $2M mark. So expect another series of luxe home renovations!
There are no house plans this year, meaning teams can build the home of their dreams (with some restrictions, of course). And everyone has been asked to include a basement of some sort. We vote for a wine cellar, thanks 😉
Week 1 was, as is often the case, the guest bedroom reveal. So let’s check them out, and meet the contestants for the 2021 series of The Block!
Ronnie and Georgia
This year, House 1 belongs to Ronnie and Georgia who originally starred in the 2017 season of The Block.
When we first saw this room, our immediate response was, “Oooh!” It’s elegant, simple and oh so classic. With natural light pouring in thanks to high ceilings and of course, skylights (a signature Block look), it’s clear to see why these guys took home top prize this week.
We love the built in wardrobes and timber shelves, adding warmth to the otherwise neutral space. Darren complimented the team on creating an, “Aspirational classic contemporary [space that] definitely plays to the market for the buyers in Hampton.”
Beautiful styling and those stunning arched bedside tables also stole the show for us. House 1 definitely earnt the win this week.

Score: 24½ / 30 (1st place)
Mitch and Mark
From the 2019 season (as well as a guest appearance in last year’s series) it’s Mitch and Mark renovating House 2. And with them, there’s sure to be plenty of drama on The Block 2021!
The first room reveal for Mitch and Mark was very pretty and feminine with sage green and blush highlights. Despite the two skylights, the space still felt a little cramped to us. Perhaps it was the bedside tables and lamps that seemed a tad too big for the room?
The pendant light seemed to dominate the space and drew attention to the low ceiling height. But onto the things we did love! The built-in study nook made good use of the space and we thought the blush coloured built-in wardrobes with timber handles were super pretty.
Cost: $13,823.20
Score: 22½ / 30 (5th place)
Tanya and Vito
Now to the newbie teams, aka the ‘fans’. In House 3 are Tanya and Vito. They’re another married couple with 2 kids and are local to Melbourne.
With her bright purple hair, Tanya is clearly a fan of colour. House 3’s guest bedroom showcases style in a burst of colour… and for the most part we actually like it!
Using artwork to set the colour palette in the room is always a winning idea and these soft yellow and green tones are divine. We would have opted for a softer coloured sheer curtain though as it dominates the room. The built out shelf behind the bed is a great alternative to a traditional bedhead and there’s a DIY wall panel tutorial here that shows how to achieve a similar look. We love that terrazzo top — one of our fave features of this guest bedroom.
The pair have also included a corner desk or makeup area, which is a great addition to this guest bedroom.

Score: 23 / 30 (joint 3rd place)
Josh and Luke
Reality TV buffs may recognise these guys as identical twin brothers, Josh and Luke, from Love Island Australia. They have zero renovating experience, but their folks work in real estate so that should count as something… right?!
Straight away we’re getting masculine, bachelor-pad vibes from this guest bedroom from Josh and Luke. The judges described it as ‘sexy, cool and very different’ and the boys took out 2nd place.
The dark built-in cabinetry adds an extra level of sophistication, as does the soft-padded wall. We’re not sure about the tempered mirror on one section of the wall. While it does reflect light and make the space feel larger, it also throws off the balance and symmetry of the room. However the bi-fold doors to what we expect will be an outdoor space (we might be wrong though!) is a great addition we can see paying off come auction day.

Score: 24 / 30 (2nd place)
Kirsty and Jesse
High school sweethearts from Lake Macquarie in NSW, Kirsty and Jesse have the biggest home on The Block 2021. The only 2-storey home, House 5 sits on more than 900m2 of land. That’ll be fun to landscape on The Block budget…
Hamptons in Hampton! From the blue wall panelling and subtle wallpaper to the artwork and soft furnishings, everything about this room screams Hamptons.
While there are a lot of beautiful features in this room, like the wainscotting and accent architraves, arch doorway and plantation shutters, overall it just felt safe. We’re excited to see what this couple can do as their confidence builds over the series.

Score: 23 / 30 (joint 3rd place)

I thought I heard it was PVC but cannot be sure
Hi Fay, I missed the mention of the acoustic sliding doors. Was it in this room – the guest bedroom – or a more recent reveal like the basements? Mitre 10 is supplying most of the doors this season so that would be my guess but you can find all the supplier details of each room here https://9now.nine.com.au/the-block/the-block-suppliers.
